Offering products or services, that satisfy customer's needs and stand out amongst competitors, has become an increasingly tough challenge for many companies today. To successfully master that challenge, it is vital to understand user's needs and tasks, the involved stakeholders, the target market, but also the technology involved and its implications. Usability Engineering offers a number of different tools and methods to solve those problems and gather the required information.
Target
During the summerschool the participants will work in groups on a software project in an early stage and apply one or more Usability Engineering techniques (e.g. Personas, Paper Prototypes, Guerilla Testing). Participants will learn how to use the required Usability Engineering techniques.

Prerequisites
This stream is explicitly addressing students from different study programs to work in interdisciplinary teams. Students from the following study programs (or similar programs) can apply:
- Computer Science / Informatics / or related programs: General knowledge of software development processes, programming (e.g. Java) and related tools is expected
- Marketing / or related programs: General knowledge about marketing principles, business models, etc is expected.
- Project Management / or related programs: General knowledge of PM processes, Risk Management and Stakeholder Management, etc. is expected
Results: 3 ECTS for successful participation in the summer school.
